Slow Building Barcelona
Mixed-use building (offices, retail and industrial) of 10,700 m². The first building in Spain to obtain DGNB Gold…
Design an industrialised constructive system capable of generating non-habitable intermediate spaces —climatic galleries— that work as a climatic cushion for the building, reducing energy demand in winter thanks to the greenhouse effect and providing solar protection in summer, all with reduced construction time through dry anchoring of prefabricated parts.
The system, developed jointly by HAUS Healthy Buildings and BailoRull ADD+Arquitectura, draws on two references: the prefabricated panel system of Herzog & de Meuron's façade in Basel and the traditional galleries of Barcelona's Eixample district. The gallery is composed of three layers: an inner façade with a brick wall insulated by rock-wool ETICS, a sealing façade with timber joinery and double glazing with air chamber (fixed at the bottom, openable at the top) and adjustable timber or aluminium shutters, and an outer solar-protection layer with reinforced concrete panels and glass-fibre reinforced mortar.
The parts are mechanically anchored to the building's slab edge, enabling fast installation without wet trades. The inventors are Manuel Bailo Esteve and Rosa Rull Bertran. The application (U202131314) was filed on 22/06/2021 and the Utility Model title (ES 1 274 374 U) was issued on 13/10/2021 by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
Utility Model ES 1 274 374 U granted by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office with a ten-year term from the filing date (through 2031). The constructive climatic-gallery system is protected throughout the national territory and available for application in high energy-performance projects.
